Frank A. Turrey

Frank Anthony Turrey was born on November 13, 1937 in Merced, California to Frank Panello and Anna Acebedo. While attending school he met the acquaintance of Barbara Jean Alcorn and they began dating in high school. They married on April 20, 1956 in Merced, California. Frank joined the United States Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Jason. Frank was honorably discharged in 1959 and continued in the reserves for an additional 4 years. Throughout his life, Frank remained a proud Navy man throughout his entire life. After he was in the military and started a family with Barbara, Frank attended Merced College and received a degree in business. Frank lived in Merced, San Jose, San Diego and eventually moved to Aumsville, Oregon in 2001. He took a job with Sears and was a Sales Manager in their Automotive and Sporting Goods department, retiring after 24 years. Frank enjoyed oil painting scenes in the style of Bob Ross, golfing, and while living in Merced he sang bass in a barber shop quartet; he loved Christian music. Frank also loved football and watching the Super bowl was a big event. Originally being from California he was a 49’ers fan but later on began a Seahawks fan as well. One of the most important aspects of Frank’s life was his faith. He had a tender heart and loved the Lord. Through the years Frank would help friends start churches, do counseling and be part of bible study groups. He and his wife began attending New Life Church in Stayton ten years ago. Frank was also a loving husband and family man who appreciated any occasion to get his family together; his two favorite holidays were Christmas and Thanksgiving. However, it was not “get together” unless there was his favorite potato salad and clam dip present. Frank’s gentle spirit touched many people over his time here on earth. He was welcomed by his loving Savior on May 9, 2019 at age 81. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Tommy Turrey, June Bailey, Clarance Turrey, Josie Garcia, Paul Turrey, Bobby Turrey, Lawrence Turrey, Elaine Maldonado, Duane Turrey. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Turrey; children, Stephanie (David) Banks, Russell (Linda) Turrey, Stacey (Tommy) Ball, Chris (Casey) Turrey; siblings, Jimmy Turrey, Lou Turrey; grandchildren, Jason Turrey, Justin Pyke, Tyler Turrey, Bryant Park, Marissa Banks, Mitch Lucas, Khyra Turrey, Victoria Turrey, Leanna Ball; great grandchildren, Tyler Turrey, Lilly Pyke, Owen Turrey, Braxton Turrey in addition to many extended family members and friends. A service will be held on 11:30 am at New Life Foursquare Church located at 1090 N. 1st St. Stayton, OR 97383 with private burial at Willamette National Cemetery.
