Frances Jean Gates Weyers

Frances Jean Gates Weyers February 1, 1925 – March 28, 2018 Frances Jean Gates Weyers, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 28, 2018 at home at Regency Park Place of Corvallis, Oregon. Frances was born February 1, 1925 in Rodman, New York, the daughter of Herbert Gates and Hazel Overton Gates. Frances, nicknamed Frankie by her father, enjoyed golfing, camping, going to the beach, singing, and was fun-loving with a wonderful sense of humor. Her grandparents were dairy farmers in her hometown, and she enjoyed helping with the chores and riding her pony, Daisy. She was quite the tomboy in her youth. Frances attended college at University of Michigan, earning her degree in Physical Education in 1947. It was here that she met and married the love of her life, John William Weyers. Frances and John were married on August 25, 1946, and started their family. Over the course of the next few years they moved from Michigan to New York to California, where they raised their five children. Frances also worked in the two family businesses that they owned along the way, and was a volunteer for a suicide and crisis hotline, as well as actively participating in her church. Frances and John moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 2010. Her beloved husband John passed away in January of 2016. They were faithfully married for nearly 70 years and had many great adventures, traveling to quite a few countries. Frances is survived by sisters-in-law Mary Anthony and Alvira Weyers, sons David, Stephen, J. Michael, and Richard Weyers, daughter Heidi Weyers Gottfried, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Regency Park Place, 2595 NE Jack London Street, Corvallis, Oregon.
