Floyd Mancil Blackburn May 21, 1930 – March 24, 2015 Gates, Oregon Floyd was born in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Arthur and Daisy Blackburn. The family moved to Oregon in March 1937. Floyd was captain of the basketball team and student body president at Gates Public School, graduating in 1948. He then served in the Army from February 1951 to February 1953, spending time in Alabama and then in Korea in radio communications. He married Virginia Timm in July 1953, spending their 61 years of marriage in Gates, Oregon. Together they raised 3 children. Before the war, Floyd worked for the Marion County road crew. Post war he drove log truck for 40 years, from 1954 to 1985. He even spent five months logging in Alaska in 1985. Floyd is survived by his children Craig (Jill) Blackburn of Sodaville, Sandra (Ron) Richter of Lyons, and Roy (Jodi) Blackburn; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Gates. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton Oregon
