Florence Stella Garner was born on April 30, 1920 in O’ Neill, Nebraska to Chester and Mazie Garner. Florence was one of 9 children, two of which passed away in infancy. As a youngster, she and her family would move to Turner, Oregon and she would graduate from Salem High School in 1938. At a young age Florence accepted the Lord, loving him and serving him from that point. She wanted to be a missionary after college but was unable due to health concerns. However, she was able to attend Simpson Bible College in Seattle, Washington and graduated in 1947. Florence would use her financial skills as a bookkeeper for Boeing in Seattle and several banks in Seattle and Portland, Oregon. In 1984 she became a beloved member at Salem Evangelical Church.  After retirement, Florence lived in Pioneer Village in West Salem, until moving to Cedar Village in 2012, where she lived until she graduated to Glory on April 28, 2021 just two days shy of her 101st birthday. Florence is survived by her niece, Carol Steenson of Salem, and a niece, Linda Gray and a nephew, Glenn Wayne Garner in Texas, and several grandnieces and nephews. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice or Salem Evangelical Church.
