Erik Wayne Barnes

Erik Wayne Barnes was born on January 30, 1987 in Salem Oregon to Tamie and Vern Barnes. Erik was the first born and just a short time later his brother Michael was born, becoming “Irish twins”. Erik attended North Salem High School in Salem and Santiam High School in Mill City. While at Santiam, he played football his freshman year was #64 and was a linebacker. Erik was coined a “gentle giant” by his family and friends at 6’2 tall, his heart was even bigger as he was always thoughtful, kind and sweet. The last few years he devoted to taking care of his mom full time, but previously worked for Freres Lumber and was an apprentice electrician. In his spare time, Erik loved to play video and computer games, where he made lots of friends from all over the world. He also enjoyed spending time with his cat, Boo who was like his child. Erik passed away after a sudden illness on May 20, 2021 at age 34 at Santiam Hospital. He is survived by his parents Tamie and Vern Barnes; brother, Michael Barnes in addition to 2 nieces and 2 nephews in addition to many aunts, uncles and cousins.
