Elmer W. Cawthron

Elmer W. Cawthron 94 of Scio passed away on July 1, 2010. He was born on January 25, 1916 in Berryville, Arkansas to Deck and Hattie (Sanders) Cawthron. He had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He served in the U.S. Army for 5 years during the Battle of Bulge. In June of 1943 he married Mary Ellen McFarland in Fresno, California. After Serving in the Army they moved to Roseburg, OR. They had 1 daughter. They made their home in Scio in 1964. He enjoyed farming their 100 acre farm where he raised cattle and hogs. He Retired from Stayton Canning (Norpac) in 1982. He also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his daughter Judy Blair of Scio, 4 grandchildren;  Rob Kobel of Lebanon, Tina Lewis of Sweet Home, Mary Wyman of Scio and Julia Calkins of Lebanon, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren a brother Roland of Mt. Grove, Mississippi, and Aunt Lucille Sanders of Roseburg, OR and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, 4 sisters 1 brother and a grandson, Viewing will be at Weddle Funeral Services in Stayton on Wednesday July 7, 2010 9:00am to 5:00 p.m., Graveside Services will be held at Miller Cemetery in Scio on Thursday July 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Bring your favorite dish for potluck at the residents 40650 Larwood Scio following the Service.
