Eldon Francis Currey

March 17, 1951 — July 25, 2023

"Eldon Francis Currey, a man of many talents and passions, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, in Corvallis, Oregon. Born on March 17, 1951, in Lebanon, Oregon, Eldon’s generous spirit and remarkable versatility made him a cherished figure to his family and friends.

Eldon was the son of the late Hazel Hall and Reese Currey. He was a cherished brother to Richard Currey, who preceded him in death, Ron Currey, and Verna Milligan. He was a devoted husband to his wife Evelyn and father to his son Jeremiah, who is married to Charla. Eldon was also a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and a friend to many in the area and beyond.

A proud graduate of Sweet Home High School, Eldon continued his education at Oregon State University, ultimately earning his degree in poultry science in 1983. Throughout his life, he also nurtured a love and passion for music, a trait passed down from his mother. He played drums and guitar, lending his talents to several bands during the 1970s and 1980s. His admiration for music was not just a hobby; it was a significant part of his identity.

Eldon's work history was as diverse as his interests. Throughout his life, he held roles as a musician, logger, soldier, poultry vet tech, and truck driver. Each job was a testament to his adaptability, resourcefulness, and unwavering work ethic. His time in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, CA from 1977 to 1980 was a period of honorable national service he often reflected upon with pride and reverence.

Beyond his work and service, Eldon was a man who appreciated the simple joys of life. He would find peace in quiet moments spent fishing, and satisfaction in creating with his own two hands, whether cooking a delicious meal, improving his and Evelyn's home in Lebanon, or crafting something from wood. His hobbies were a reflection of a man who loved to work, create, and share with others.

Eldon was a loyal husband and father, a steadfast friend, and a man who brought joy to those around him. His life was a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of community, and the enduring value of love and family. His passing leaves a void in the many lives he touched, but his memory and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Today, we remember Eldon Francis Currey as a man of substance and character, whose life was filled with music, laughter, and love. His memory will forever be a melody in our hearts, a song of resilience, joy, and unwavering love for life. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives of those he loved and those who loved him."
