Edwin James Schodorf Jr. was born on December 23, 1942, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to Edwin James Schodorf Sr. and Mary Alice Schlairet.  At a young age, Ed moved with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He grew up in New Mexico and eventually graduated with a Master of Public Health degree, and an ABD from the University of New Mexico Environmental Science PhD program.  At Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Ed’s life would change forever; he just didn’t know it at the time.  While flying to Philadelphia, he struck up a conversation with Tri Le, who was traveling there herself.  After returning to Albuquerque, the two would go their separate ways only to run into one another sometime later.  They started dating, and married in 1977, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Ed was an environmental health inspector in New Mexico and Oregon.  He also worked as an environmental/public health officer for International Rescue Committee in refugee camps in Thailand and Sudan, Africa.  Ed is described as creative, intelligent, and loving.  He had a silly sense of humor with a little bit of mischievousness added in.  He was a dedicated family man, who spent his spare time writing poetry and short stories and doing photography. He was also enthusiastic about the sciences, space travel and, of course, monarch butterflies.  On May 18, 2019, Ed passed away at his home in Philomath, Oregon surrounded by family.  He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Mary.  He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Tri; children Perri, Darci and Kerri; grandchildren Haley and Avery; and siblings Anne Cobos, Rick Schodorf and Bill Schodorf.                                                     La Carnival                 My personal carnival is coming to a glorious end.               I can hear it as a soft murmur on the quiet evening                                                         wind.                  Flying carpets float by showing the experiences                                                      to be had                   Grab one and take a ride you will be surprised                                               for the good or bad.                   For the most one or two carpets may provide                                           great thrills for a lifetime                   But for some a few thousand carpets might be                                             perfectly just fine.                        My sentinel reaches for me as it has for                                             many years of fun                       It claims that I will be star hopping when                                                all is said and done.                     The ever-present sentinel states that there                                              is still some fun time                      It says that the warning bells have not yet                                                 begun to chime.
