Dorthy June Williamson

November 19, 1931 – February 28, 2012 Dorthy Williamson was born to Fred and Helen Taylor on November 19, 1931 in Houston, Texas.  The eldest of five children, she grew up in Wickes, Arkansas, where she met and married Lynn Williamson in 1950. Her first two sons were born there in Arkansas in 1951 and 1952.  In 1953 she moved her family to Oregon where God blessed her with two daughters and one more son during the next three years. Dorthy and Lynn lived and raised all their children in the small town on Idanha, Oregon, where she stayed until shortly after Lynn’s death in 1980. She purchased and operated a small restaurant with her brother in nearby Detroit, Oregon.  Then, purchased and operated a restaurant in Mill City, Oregon until retiring in 1990. In 1992 she moved to Salem to be closer to her children and began attending Peoples Church.  She greatly enjoyed the preaching, teaching, worship, and fellowship of Peoples Church and began plugging in where she could serve. Dorthy loved to cook, to garden, and especially to bless and serve the people around her.  She believed that faith in God was to be demonstrated by action in service to those He placed in her path.  One of her greatest joys was bringing together all her extended family for holiday meals, barbecues or just fun and fellowship.  She was really all about people. Dorthy will be greatly missed by her four brothers and sisters, her five children and spouses, her twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is now rejoicing with those loved ones who went ahead of her- her husband, three grandchildren, mother and dad and many friends.  Most of all, she is praising the One she has served, face to face, and receiving the rewards He has prepared for her. Dorthy loved flowers, but loved people more.  She would be pleased if, in lieu of flowers, friends gave a gift to Pathways Church in Fort Collins, Colorado, in her name. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. in Salem on Friday, March 2 at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
