Dorothy Ella Coakley, a beloved resident of Lebanon, Oregon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born to Leo Fetter and Agnes (Miller) Fetter, she dedicated her life to nurturing others.
Dorothy’s career spanned both the classroom and the home. She retired as a dedicated teacher’s aide at Waterloo School, where her kindness and patience left an indelible mark on countless young lives. As an in-home care provider, she extended her compassion to those in need.
On September 16, 1950, Dorothy married Vincent L. Coakley in Lebanon, Oregon. Their enduring love was a testament to their commitment and shared adventures.
Beyond her professional and family life, Dorothy found joy in volunteering at local grade schools. She reveled in helping children discover the magic of reading and learning. Her green thumb graced many gardens, and she delighted in nurturing vibrant blooms.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Her children, Bruce Coakley, Cynthia Saulmon, Phillip Coakley, and Robert Coakley, carry forward her spirit. Her grandchildren—Josh McGowan, Justin McGowan, Richelle Kelso, Alan Coakley, Alex Coakley, Olivia Coakley, and Mitchell Coakley—cherish memories of her warmth and wisdom.
She was preceded by her siblings Lillian Kleinschmidt, Herbert Fetter, Lawrence Fetter, Leo Robert Fetter, Arthur Fetter, Walter Fetter, and David Fetter. Dorothy forged lifelong bonds with her siblings, and their shared laughter and shared tears enriched her journey. She was also preceded by her beloved husband Vincent Coakley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Parkinson’s research. Dorothy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will forever bloom like the flowers she tended with care.
