Dorothy Faye Martin was born on November 12, 1939 in Oklahoma City. She was known to close friends and family as "Dot". She married Jackson “Ladell” Knight on November 14, 1956, he preceded her in death in 2014. Dot was a fixture in the Aumsville area community for over 40 years. She and Ladell lived in the Marion area before moving to Oklahoma for a short time and then settling in Aumsville. They ran an antique and second hand store in town for many years and made friends and ministered in the community to more than we will ever be able to count. Dot was ordained through the Church of God and taught Sunday school, adult studies as well as ministering in Marion at her own church. One of her favorite ministries was shared with her daughter-in-law Janeane at the women’s prison for years. Dot took great joy in her music. Singing and playing piano in church and performing professionally for years with several bands that included her son Jack on guitar. Dot started her music career as a 3 year old girl singing in the pea patch for change. Even though her memory was fading, she could remember the words to countless songs she would continue to sing for her visitors and family in her final days. She had a close relationship with her siblings. Being 2nd to oldest next to Bill, she helped her mother with the business of raising her brothers and sisters as the family adopted a migrant farm working lifestyle after the depression. Dot loved to cook and sing and often did both at the same time. News of her making a batch of authentic tamales always brought her brothers and sisters back to her kitchen. Her greatest love however, was Ladell who passed in 2014. They are reunited now in Heaven and will be together forever. Dot was preceded in death by her parents Vorce Elvert and Thelma Martin; sister, Linda Perry and daughter Martha Ann Knight. She is survived by her children, Jack (Janeane) Knight, Teresa(Mike Parker) Knight, Rachel Knight (Smith), and Justin (Allison) Knight; siblings, Maureen, Jerry, Pat and Debbie; grandchildren, Lisa (Jeremiah), Luci, Tyler, Madison, Grayson, Kiara, Ashton; great grandchildren, Brendan, Crissy, Katie, Harden Parker
