Doris Vera Knieling

Doris Vera Knieling, born on August 25, 1928, at the family home in Stayton, Oregon, peacefully passed away on February 8, 2024, in Turner, Oregon. She was born to George William MaCoy and Alice Marion Hamilton, and was one of 12 siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.


Doris's early years were marked by a vibrant spirit and a love for adventure. She attended Stayton schools and cherished memories of riding horses, embodying the role of the Bean Princess in her community. In 1946, she graduated from Stayton High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and service.


On September 17, 1947, Doris married Jacob Knieling, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. Together, they were blessed with three children: Don, Allen, and Alice. Doris dedicated herself to raising her children on the family farm in Marion, instilling in them values of hard work, resilience, and compassion.


Throughout her life, Doris embraced various professional endeavors, showcasing her versatility and determination. She worked tirelessly for the cannery, the DMV, and even drove a school bus. Her career journey also led her to roles at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Costco. In 1992, Doris retired as a computer operator for the State of Oregon, concluding a career marked by diligence and dedication.


Beyond her professional achievements, Doris found joy in her community and her faith. A longstanding member of Calvary Lutheran Church, she played an integral role in its growth and development. Doris's creativity and passion were evident in her contribution to the church, including penning an additional verse for the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."


An embodiment of warmth and kindness, Doris had a remarkable way with people. She cherished every moment spent with friends and family, always eager to catch up and share in life's joys and sorrows.


Doris was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Jacob Knieling, her son Allen Knieling, and her granddaughter Brandy Hunsche. She is survived by her loving children, Alice (John) Lockshaw and Don Knieling, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Richard Knieling, Amanda Knieling, and Jacob Knieling, along with six great-grandchildren.
