Jackson, February 25, 1946. They had 6 children, the oldest who was Virgil Jr., that died at birth while the couple was living in Oklahoma. They moved to Oregon and had Kenneth (Jan) Jackson, Virginia (Douglas) Nelson, Irvin (Irene) Jackson, R. Dale (Diane) Jackson, and Robert (fiance’e Suzie) Jackson. Dorine has 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Dorine worked for Santiam Memorial Hospital in the records department and was a Cub Scout leader while her boys were young. Later in the 60’s they lived on a farm outside of Aumsville, where she was an Avon lady. They moved back to Stayton where she worked as a mail carrier for the Stayton Post Office. Dorine and Virgil bought a rustic coast house in Newport for her family to enjoy vacations, fishing, clamming, and crabbing. Dorine enjoyed long walks on the beach with Virgil. They collected agates and floats that drifted ashore. For their retirement they traveled to Quartzite, Arizona to be official snow birds. Once there, they escaped the cold winter months of Oregon by camping and hiking through the warm deserts of Arizona. Dorine bought some property in Quartzsite and continued to return with the assistance of her children for a decade after Virgil died in 1999. Dorine loved reading, crocheting, and was a great seamstress. She sewed many outfits for her kids and grandkids. She also loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts over the years. The family would like to give many thanks to the wonderful staff at McKillop Residence of Marian Estates in Sublimity, who took great care for her comfort while she lived there up until the very end.
