Donna Rae Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20,2024. Born on September 7, 1934, in Corvallis, Oregon, to Alma and NC Newton.
Donna's life was enriched by her marriage to Cecil Jones on July 17, 1972, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories. Donna was a devoted mother to her daughter Paula and stepsons Craig, Clint, and Corwin. She was also a guiding presence in the lives of her nieces Diane Johnson and Nancy Hendrickson; nephew, John Newton.
The joy of Donna's life was found in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth to her grandchildren Erin McGuire, Amber Stevens, Ben Jones, Shelby Taylor, Sarah Hammond, Colton, Hayden, Baleigh, Camren, Lillian, and Cecilia Jones, as well as her great-grandchildren Amelia, Arianna, Lila McGuire, Cameron, Baylee, Brelin Stevens, Noemi Jones, Cannon Taylor, Khale, Kimber, and Kylee Hammond.
Donna lived most of her life in Corvallis before relocating to Salem in 2007 with Cecil. She had a diverse career, starting as a teacher at Phagens Beauty School for three years before working as a beautician in Corvallis. Her journey led her to various bookkeeping roles until she found her home at Interface Network, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.
Outside of work, Donna pursued many passions and hobbies.
She was a talented seamstress, quilter, and painter, creating beautiful works of art that brought joy to those around her. Donna's creative spirit also led her to knit over 50 Christmas stockings for her family. She enjoyed square dancing, camping, and spending quality time with friends, especially during spirited card games.
Christmas held a special place in Donna's heart, and she delighted in decorating her home with festive cheer. She was known for her culinary skills, preserving the bounty of each season by canning fruits, jams, pickles, and tuna.
Affectionately known as Grandma Donna to her grandchildren, she and Cecil embraced the snowbird lifestyle, journeying to Arizona in their fifth wheel, first to Yuma and then to Tucson. Donna cherished family gatherings and shared many fond memories with her cousins, aunts, and uncles, regaling them with her captivating stories.
Donna found immense joy in the adventures she shared with Cecil, particularly their motorcycle escapades, including their memorable trip to Reno to exchange vows.
Donna Rae Jones will be remembered for her boundless love, vibrant spirit, and unwavering kindness. Her legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
