Donald "Gene" Jacobs

Donald "Gene" Jacobs, 88 of Keizer, Oregon passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Gene was born in Albany, Oregon on May 26, 1936 to Joseph Jacobs and Alberta (Waller) Jacobs on the family homestead. Gene began his working life while still in school working in the machine shop at Albany Auto Parts. That began his lifelong work as an automotive machinist.

That took him to Seattle working for Precision Engine Specialties where he worked for several years before returning to Albany to work for Wah Chang, working on forklifts. In 1976 Gene married Maxine Barnett of Condon, Oregon and he relocated there until 1979 when they both relocated to the Salem-Keizer area. Gene then went to work in the machine shop at West Bearing in Portland where he completed his working life and retired.

Gene was a very proud and patient man and enjoyed life, family and friends. He had some hobbies and genealogy was one of them. He also had some annual events that he seldom missed with family and friends like the Oregon Steam Up, the car show in Forest Grove and the airshow at Abbotsford BC.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife Maxine and his older brother Jim "Jake" Jacobs and leaves behind several nieces, nephews, step-children, grandchildren and friends.
