November 10, 1934 — May 22, 2022

Diane Nobuko Johnson was born November 10th 1934 to Seishin Yamada and Yoshi Shimabukuro in Saipan. She grew up with four brothers and one sister; Seizen Yamada, Masakatsu Yamada, Masahiko Yamada, Seiko Yamada, and Katsuko Kimmy Cornell. Her family eventually relocated to Okinawa Japan, where she met her husband Robert Ernest Johnson, who was serving in the Air Force. They fell instantly in love and were married on June 26th 1962 at the American Embassy in Naha, Okinawa.

They spent 57 happy years together, living in various parts of the United States together from Alaska, to Montana and settling down with a piece of land they bought outside of Stayton, Oregon in 1974 where they built their beautiful home. Diane had three children, David Masataka Yamada, Stephen Johnson, and Raymond Johnson. Diane had many hobbies that she thoroughly enjoyed including sewing, embroidering, farming, cooking, gardening, and raising all kinds of animals. She had the biggest warmest heart you could come across and loved everyone she met, with a smile and energy that could bring light to the darkest places.
