Deeanna Faye Rodiger was born May 19, 1965 in Oakland, California to Robert “Johnny” Lee John and Nora Faye Kinion. She had two siblings Robert Lee John Jr. and Julie Ann John. Deeanna spent the first five years of her life in Oakland before moving to Aumsville, Oregon. When Deeanna was 12 her family moved to Stayton, Oregon where she graduated from Stayton High School. She moved to Los Angeles, California and attended Universal Air Academy. While in Los Angeles she met John Richard Rodiger through the newspaper when looking for an apartment. John and Deeanna moved to Glendale, California and on October 25, 1986 they were married in Reno, Nevada at the “Cupid’s Chapel of Love” with their families present. Together John and Deeanna had two children Kyle Richard Rodiger and Jenifer Faye Rodiger (Dolan). In 1991, Deeanna moved back to Stayton, Oregon and completed schooling to become a Massage Therapist. She was the owner and operator of her own therapeutic massage business named “Hands with a Heart” which she ran for 18 years. She was passionate about her work and wrote multiple articles and submitted them to Massage & Bodywork Magazine. Deeanna attended services and Bible study at the Mehama Community Church. Deeanna was a registered Siletz Tribal member and eventually became recognized as an elder within the tribe. Deeanna was an independent and hardworking woman with a feisty spirit and a “can-do” attitude. She was non-judgmental, welcoming, and loved being around and helping people. She was the type of woman who always said what she meant and tried to make the best life possible for those around her. The open-door policy at their home blessed them with years of children having a safe space and home to visit at anytime. Two of the children quickly were adopted into the family: Brendan Michael Thomas James Lindsey and Cody Allen Smith. During her hours that she spent volunteering at schools and extracurricular activities she became “everyone’s mom” by the children whose lives that she touched. She enjoyed making her own cards that she would send to her grandchildren, cross-stitch sewing, copying down Bible verses and writing down song lyrics. She loved God and her family above all other things. She loved watching, teaching, playing and interacting with her grandchildren: Kalvin, Carter, Owen, Zoey, Haley, Athena, Evelyn Rose, MicKenna and William. Deeanna passed away on September 2, 2020 in Salem, Oregon at the age of 55. She was preceded in death by her mother Nora Faye Kinion, her father Robert Lee John, and her sister Julie Ann John. She will be forever loved in the hearts of those who knew her.
