Dawn was born February 6, 1933, in Athens New York to Glenwood and Violet Kisselburg. She grew up in Catskill, New York, midway through the Great Depression. She was the eldest of three children. Her little brother, Foster , was born in 1935. Her baby sister, Joy, was born in 1946. Dawn met Guy Capwell in her high school Glee Club in New York. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, 1949. They moved to Aumsville, Oregon in 1965. Dawn and Guy had seven children: Gary Capwell, Chris Capwell, Lynn Capwell, Jay Capwell, Kim Capwell Boyd, Guy V. Capwell, and Lyssa Capwell Patterson. Dawn was a soft spoken, gentle spirit. Very patient and kind. She was a wonderful wife and mom. Devoted, compassionate, and supportive. She was a superb cook and really enjoyed baking and big family get-togethers. In years past, Dawn spent lots of time at the Aumsville Wesleyan Church helping with and teaching the Toddlers and Kindergartners about Jesus. It was both rewarding and frustrating, but she so enjoyed little ones. She loved rock hunting, thrift store shopping for treasures, Bible studies, canning, singing, reading her mother’s poetry, dancing, little babies, and leisurely drives in the woods with Guy. In their later years, Dawn and Guy had a music ministry and would go to Marion Estates and other nursing homes and sing hymns, play guitar and preach for the elderly folks. They also enjoyed going to “jamborees” in Scio and other locations to meet up with other musicians to play older type instruments and sing old hymns and country songs. Preceding her in death were: Guy W. Capwell (husband), Gary Weston Capwell (son), Chris G. Capwell (son), Lynn Marie Capwell (daughter), Foster Kisselburg (brother), and Joy Reyes (sister). A Celebration of Life is planned for March 9th at 11:00 at the Aumsville Mountain View Church, 111 Main Street, Aumsville, OR 97325
