David Derrell Quillin

March 15, 1993 — December 23, 2024

David Derrell Quillin, a beloved son and brother, left us far too soon on December 23, 2024, at the age of 31. Born on March 15, 1993, in Portland, Oregon, David was the beloved youngest of two children raised by his parents Susan and Nathaniel Taylor in Salem, Oregon.

As a child, David’s life was filled with joyful memories, particularly during cherished family trips to Disneyland. These annual adventures were a highlight of his childhood, as he and his sister Amber took turns bringing friends along to share in the magic. David shared a close bond with his grandfather, Clifford Harrison, spending countless happy hours riding the tractor together.

David attended Liberty Elementary, Crossler Middle School, and Sprague High School before earning his GED. Like many young boys, he found joy in skateboarding, video games, and camping. A fan of hard rock music, David appreciated its intensity, mirroring his own spirited nature. Though he could be described as a “guy’s guy,” he was also private, quiet, and reserved.

David spent most of his life in Salem, Oregon, though his adventurous spirit also led him to live in Aumsville as a young adult. A true animal lover, David’s heart was fullest when he was with his pets. His loyal dog Kenna, his constant companion for over twelve years, brought him immense joy and comfort. In the last year and a half of his life, he welcomed Panda into his home, expanding his family of beloved animals. For David, his dogs were not just pets but family, and he would have done anything for them.

David is preceded in death by his grandfather, Clifford Harrison. He is survived by his parents, Susan and Nathaniel Taylor; his sister Amber and brother-in-law Jeremy McDonald; his cherished nieces, Natalie and Olivia McDonald; and his grandmothers, Judy Quillin and Joan Harrison.

A family gathering at the grave to honor David’s life will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Rosedale Friends Cemetery in Salem, Oregon, located at the Rosedale Friends Church.
