David Edward Shepard, of Lyons, passed away in his sleep at home on July 9, 2022. He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Long Beach, California. David's parents were Bobby and Betty (Dahlenburg). When Bobby retired from the Navy in 1968, they moved to Aumsville where Betty had family. David lived in Aumsville for most of his life and moved to Lyons in 2013.

David attended Cascade High School and joined the Marines. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for several years, and later was employed as a ferry operator for Marion County until his retirement. David has two daughters, Crystal and Heather, from his first marriage. In 1998 he married Linda Mix of Aumsville, his high school sweetheart and fiancé. David loved to barbeque and enjoyed hunting and camping with his nephew Michael Shepard. He also loved his chihuahua dogs, Ginger and Romeo.

David is survived by: daughters Crystal (Frank) LeGallo of Portland and Heather Champaco of Texas, grandchildren Frances LeGallo, Patrick and Destiny Gill, Vincente and Ignacio Champaco. Also survived by: brothers Ted (Louise) Shepard, Bobby (Carol) Shepard, Bud (Sheri) Graves, sisters Janet (John) Sad and Amber Graves, stepmother JoAnn Graves, nephew Michael (Bonny) Shepard, grandnephew Sam, grandniece Jessica, niece Traci Siriprathane, and grandnephew Kallen.
David was preceded in death by his wife Linda Shepard, biological father Ted Graves, parents Bobby and Betty Shepard, and grandparents Al and Vallerie Dahlenburg. The family thanks hospice for their care of David in his final months.
A private graveside service will take place at the Aumsville Cemetery followed by a family barbeque in his honor. Weddle Funeral Services is handling the arrangements.
