Darwin Lloyd Holm August 4, 1937 May 24, 2009 Stayton, Oregon Darwin Lloyd Holm left his family with a legacy of love and wonderful memories on Sunday, May 24, 2009. Dar was born in South Dakota to Nels and Mary Holm, one of ten kids. While serving in the U.S. Navy he met and married Joan, his wife of 52 years. Together they have four children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He almost never missed a softball game or other event for any of them, even if it meant traveling to remote locations. A police officer for most of his life, Dar retired from law enforcement as a Lieutenant of the Detective Division for the Linn County Sheriffs department. Dar enjoyed traveling with Joan in their RV, which they did often. He also kept very busy working around their place out in the country. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be remembered for generations to come. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 29 at Wisner Cemetery on Kingston/Jordan Road in Scio, followed by a 12 p.m. memorial service at New Hope Foursquare Church in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Randall Lee Nunnenkamp Scholarship Foundation, a 501c(3), P.O. Box 501, Hillsborro, Oregon 97123. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, Oregon.
