Darryl “Frog” Wayne Cerini, born on July 2, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, peacefully departed this life on November 19, 2023. He was the beloved son of the late Lois Vivian Burnett and Alfred Orland Cerini.
Darryl grew up in Echo Park, California, where he played the drums and for a few years was part of a local rock band with his best friend, Rudy. They both left high school to join the Army.
Darryl served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Darryl exhibited bravery and commitment to his country. His service was a testament to his resilience and dedication.
After the war. Darryl worked for Budweiser and did other warehousing jobs before fully becoming disabled due to his service. Later in life, he earned his GED and was very proud of that accomplishment.
Darryl married Mayme Brown on September 2, 1996, in Newburg, Oregon. They resided in Salem, Oregon for the last 27 years of his life.
Darryl was a man of passion and hobbies, finding solace and thrill in the freedom of the open road. His affiliation with the HOG community was a cornerstone of his life, and his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles was a testament to his adventurous spirit.
His love for creatures great and small was evident in his fondness for animals, particularly his affection for frogs. Over the years it became his nickname, and he would tell people his name was Darryl but they could call him “Frog”. He also had several cats and dogs over the years and enjoyed their companionship.
Fishing was a cherished pastime, offering him moments of tranquility amidst nature's beauty. He was quiet in nature, and perfectly so, his Lakota name translated to “man who hides from people”.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger Cerini. He is survived by his wife, Mayme Cerini; children, Willow (Crow) Cerini, Nicole Cerini, Anthony Cerini, and Shanna Burghadt; siblings, Judy Cerini and Doug Cerini.
