Constance (Connie) Lucille Strohecker STAYTON – Born Dec. 2, 1938 in Newberg to John and Laura Robertson, Connie died Nov. 23, 2018 at Marian Estates in Sublimity at age 79. She grew up on a small farm near Ladd Hill and attended school there through seven grades. Memories from those years include hitting home runs for the softball team, chores on the farm and the walk to Ladd Hill School with younger sister Sharon. They moved to Newberg for junior and senior high school and graduated with top awards in typing and shorthand, skills she used at Mt. Hood Community where she retired at 65. An illness was diagnosed as Parkinson’s about the same time. She battled with the disease until her death after surgery for cancer. Connie enjoyed trips to Pacific City beaches where her parents had a vacation cabin. Members of all the family often spent holidays there. She had a passion for horses and met her second husband, Willian Strohecker, when she took her horse to him for training. Connie was an excellent horsewoman, former secretary of Oregon Pinto and member of American Paint Horse Assoc. She loved the lifestyle and was proud to see Strohecker Stables and the quality paint horses they bred and trained would continue under direction of their son, Kenneth Strohecker. She is survived by three other children from a previous marriage, Derrick, Deanne and Darcy plus numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her older brothers, Dr. Marvin Robertson and Rollin Robertson and younger sister Sharon Ramsey survive and will miss her. Private inurnment will take place at Oak Creek Cemetery in Glide, Oregon beside her husband. Contributions in her memory to Parkinson’s support or research groups will help others.
