Cloyce Leroy Hatfield Dec. 28, 1928 – June 26, 2011 Silverton, Oregon Cloyce Leroy Hatfield was born in Nyssa, Oregon on the 28th of December, 1928. He was the youngest of 9 children born to Mac and Chris Hatfield. He passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Silverton. He was 82 years old. Cloyce lived in Medford. He enjoyed horseback riding and had ridden bulls and wild horses in the Pendleton Rodeo. He served in the US Army Infantry and was the only one of 3 who survived “The Big Red One”. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator and field boss in the log ponds at Bear Creek, Medford and White City Mill. He retired in 1988. He then moved to Scotts Mills in 1990 and to Silverton in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and country music, he loved children. Cloyce is survived by his wife, Gwen “Jean” of Silverton; 9 children, Sherry of Seattle, Terry Grant of Silverton, Judy Williams of Scotts Mills, Norman Schaeffer of Kansas City, Alan Grant of Silverton, Danny Schaeffer of Medford, Melody Helmer of Salem, Christy Sue Schaeffer of Klamath Falls, Brent Hatfield of Washington; 37 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Sat. July 16th at 2:00 pm at the Silverton Praise Center (Church of God) in Silverton. Interment with military honors at Miller Cemetery in Silverton.
