Cloie Jean Wood

Cloie Jean Wood who was known by Jean was born on September 15, 1940 in Chino, California to Cecil Vineyard and Margie Marie Baker.  Being raised in a family that worked in agriculture, the family would often move in search of jobs.  This allowed her to meet many new people and see many parts of the country.  After high school she would eventually settle in the Santa Clara/ San Jose area and would start working for the Silicon Valley Group as an Assembly Worker.  Her hard work would pay off and she would be promoted to supervisor. In the early 1960’s Jean would meet and marry Ben Wood.  This union would go on to welcome three children, Stephanie, Brian and Katie into the world.  The two would eventually divorce but would remain close friends throughout their lives.  In the mid 1990’s she would move to Estacada, Oregon after her daughter Katie moved from California.  While in Estacada, she would start working for the Springwater Store in addition to helping with raising her grandchildren.  Being a “social butterfly” Jean really enjoyed working at the store where she would talk and share stories with the many people that would frequent the store.  Family was very important to Jean and she would involve them with her activities whenever she could.  She loved to go camping and go to the beach.  When her children were young, she would often load up all the kids in the car and pack it full of items to go a trip.  At home she would involve the entire family in cooking meals.  Each member would have their part and they would always have everything prepared in time, much to the amazement of everyone involved.  Outside of that she enjoyed flowers and working in the yard and square dancing. On December 30, 2019 Jean passed away in Mill City, Oregon.  She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Margie and her most of her siblings.  She is survived by her husband Ben Wood; Children, Stephanie Gill, Brian (Pam) Wood, and Katie (Greg) Wood-Locke; Grandchildren Stacy, Eric, Gregory, Sarah, Jessica, Benjamin, Lucas and Alex; great-grandchildren Jayden, Daxton, Jamie, Oliver, and Loki; and siblings, Wanda and Jim.
