Claud Vernon “Pat” McClanahan was born November 15, 1925 in Faulkner, Kansas to Fred and Lora (Barrows) McClanahan and passed away April 22, 2010 at the Santiam Hospital in Stayton, Oregon. “Pat” was the youngest son of 12 children, including one half sister. He was raised and attended school in Cherokee County, Kansas and he enlisted in the Marines December, 1943. He returned home the end of 1945 and on January 17, 1946 married his high school sweetheart. Norma C. Ickes. Soon after, they moved to Southern California where they raised 3 children. He retired in 1981 from the Norwalk Post Office and they moved to Anderson, California where they built a home on the Sacramento River. They bowled in several leagues and “Pat” was an avid reader. He had a great sense of humor and was a kind, gentle man who loved spending time with his family. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and 1 half sister. He is survived by 2 sons, David (Vivian) McClanahan of Yorba Linda, California and Steve (Gayle) of Corona, California; 1 daughter, Karen King of Lyons, Oregon; 7 grandchildren, 9 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. On May 1, 2010 Funeral Services were held at the Victor Valley Mortuary. Burial was at the Victor Valley Cemetery in Victorville, California. Family and friends gathered at the home ofDonna (Ickes) Stonesifer after the service. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and kindness.
