Christina Marie Mary

October 31, 1952 — June 15, 2024

Christina Marie (Barnett) Mary, a beloved figure known for her kind-hearted nature and selfless spirit, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. Born on October 31, 1952, in Silverton, Oregon, Christina's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship.

Christina's journey began in the picturesque town of Silverton, where she spent her early years before moving to Lyons, Oregon, in the 5th grade. It was there that she met her lifelong friend, Linda L. Pedigo, forming a bond that would last a lifetime. Christina's formative years in Lyons culminated in her graduation from Stayton High School in 1970, setting the stage for a life of dedication and service to others. Together, Christina and Linda had many years where they would raise their children together.

In 1983, Christina made the move to Salem, Oregon, where she would not only raise her two sons, Kenneth and David, but also build a remarkable career. For 30 years, she served the chiropractic industry with gentle care, greeting patients with her warm smile at the front desk, skillfully managing x-ray technology, and providing comfort as a physical therapist. Her work was more than a job; it was a way for her to touch the lives of those around her positively.

Christina's personal life was equally rich and fulfilling. She married the love of her life, Ennis Marvin Mary, in Salem, Oregon, in 1985, after a serendipitous meeting at a girls' night out on September 6, 1984. From that night on, they were inseparable, sharing a deep love that endured until her last day on earth.

An outdoor enthusiast, Christina found joy in gardening, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and simply being in the embrace of nature. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her passion for spending time with the young children in her life, ensuring that her legacy of kindness and thoughtfulness would be passed down through the generations.

Christina’s life was a beacon of love and generosity. She was a woman who put others before herself, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her unwavering positivity. Her departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and strength to her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

She is survived by her husband, Ennis Marvin Mary; Kenneth Smittle and David Smittle; daughter in law, Linda Marie Smittle; grandchildren, Hayli Leanne, Stevi Marie, Sylas, Aiden, Jacklin, Colin, Rona, and Britton Smittle, and great-grandchildren Alexander Ennis Kassell and Oliver Jay Fields. Christina's siblings, Cynthia Barnett-Lentz, Cathlina Louise Odom, Carmela Ann Barnett, Debbie Linn Shimin, and John A. Barnett, in addition to extended family members and friends.
