Charles Ezra Storey

Charles Ezra Storey, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, in Salem, OR. Born on June 5, 1947, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Jack and Lela Storey, he grew up with his sister, Jennett.

Charles was a devoted husband to his wife, Kathie Gayle (Layne) Storey, for 56 years, and together they raised three wonderful sons, Keith, Todd, and Chris. Charles was a proud father who took great pride in his sons' accomplishments and supported them in all their endeavors. His beloved grandchildren, Matt, Jon, Justice, and Ella, as well as his great-granddaughter, Savannah, who brought immense joy to his life.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps reserve from 1966-1972, Charles began a distinguished career with the Dallas Texas Police Department. Over 35 years, he rose through the ranks and retired as a detective. Charles was known for his unwavering dedication to his work and his commitment to upholding justice. His colleagues admired his persistence, integrity, and courage, qualities that earned him the respect of those he served with and those he served to protect.

Charles's life was marked by service, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and devotion to his family and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lela Storey. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathie Gayle Storey; sister Jennette Storey; sons, Keith (Christina) Storey, Todd (Celia) Storey and Chris (Leah) Storey; grandchildren, Matt Storey, Jon (Sarah) Storey, Justice (Andrew Barry) Storey and Ella Storey; great granddaughter, Savannah; in addition to a host of extended family and friends.

As we remember Charles Ezra Storey, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the memory of a man who touched so many lives. His love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. At this time no formal service is planned.
