Cecil Elroy Jones was born on September 9, 1936 in Olean, Missouri to Harold and Lucille (Hogg) Jones in his grandparents Rock House. He was raised in a hardworking, farming family. Raised with his two other siblings, Sharon and Larry, Cecil would graduate from Russellville High School in 1954.
In 1956, he married Beth Wissmann (Hannapel), they married in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Russellville, Missouri. Together, they would have four children, Catherine, Craig, Clint and Corwin. Like his father, Cecil would also become a member of the Russellville Masonic Lodge #90 and he continued to pay his dues for many years even after moving.
He would live with his family in Russellville, Missouri until 1968 when he moved to Oregon. They would later separate, and he would meet and marry Donna Rae Newton on July 17, 1972, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they were blessed with a daughter named Paula.
Cecil was a jack of all trades, and he could fix and build almost anything. Throughout his life he would farm and work as a pressman at Von Hoffmann and Pacific Stationary. He would later leave that job and become the General Manager at Pacific Stationary and later went to work at Gordon’s Printing as a general manger.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, motorcycles and square dancing. He and his wife, Donna would start square dancing in the mid 1970’s. He was the head of the Program Book Committee for the 1994 Square Dance Convention.
Cecil passed away on April 2, 2023, in Keizer, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his children, Clint Jones, Catherine Jones; granddaughter, Amelia McGuire and grandson, Cameron Briot.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Jones; sons, Craig Jones, Corwin Jones and his daughter, Paula Jones; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
