Catherine Anne Vandecoevering December 12, 1911 August 17, 2010 Stayton, OR Catherine Anne was born in Kingston, Oregon to Joseph and Apolonia (Pietrok) Brand. She grew up in the area and then moved to Portland where she worked at a Pastry Shop. She joined the Army-Air Force in 1942 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. She returned to the Portland area and purchased the Bakery that formerly employed her. She met and married Herman Vandecoevering in 1962 and they moved to Stayton where they built a home. Catherine spent many precious hours in her vegetable garden and took great pride in having the first harvest of tomatoes. She took care of providing meals for the Parish Priest and making sure the Vestments and Altar Linens were clean. She was also known for her delicious seven layer cake. Herman preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Josephine Brand, Mary Schmitt, Alois Brand, Joseph Brand, Anthony Brand. She is survived by her sister in law, Anne Brand and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, August 23, 2010 from 4-7 P.M. at Weddle Funeral Chapel. Rosary will be recited at Monday, August 23, at 7:00 P.M at Immaculate Conception Church with the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with burial to follow at St. Marys Cemetery.
