Carroll Layton Taylor was born on May 11, 1939, in Galax, Virginia to parents, Osborn and Josie Taylor. They settled in the Aumsville area Carroll married Lana Taylor for over 60 years, prior to his passing they were just 1 week shy of celebrating 61 years. He and Lana were blessed with two daughters, Mona Taylor Thompson (Curtis), Robin Taylor and son, Scott Taylor who passed in September of 1992. Carroll was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Mark Thompson, Bonnie Thompson Tikhonoff, Brian Harris, Ariel Taylor, Brittney Taylor, Cori McClatchey and 6 great grandchildren. He was a wonderful dad and granddad. Carroll was a hard worker who always provided for his family. He lived in the Aumsville area since the late 1950’s. He worked for Burkland Lumber Co. in Turner until the company closed. Carroll then worked for the saw mills up the Canyon then he did construction work, followed by masonry business and he also did maintenance for North Santiam and West Stayton Elementary schools. If something was broke, he could fix it. He was a jack of all trades and if you needed a hand with a project, he was your guy! Lana and Carroll moved around Eastern Oregon for over 10 years settling back here in the Aumsville area to be closer to their kids. Carroll passed away on November 15, 2021, at age 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and a son. Carroll will be greatly missed.
