Carolyn Sue Greiner, born on September 15, 1944, in Freer, Texas, to Elsie Glocar and Charles Bennett, left this world on September 22, 2024, peacefully at her home in Turner, Oregon. She passed away knowing she was very loved by her family, just as she had lived her life—surrounded by warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication.
Growing up alongside her siblings—Bill, Johnny (Lisa), Kathy (Billy), and Deborah Ann—Carolyn learned the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience. On April 27, 1963, she married Paul Greiner Jr., and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their union blessed them with three children: Peter (Linda), Tina (Ronnie), and Tony.
Before dedicating herself to homemaking and caring for her family, Carolyn worked at a cannery for three summers. Her hands knew the rhythm of labor—the same hands that would later cutting wood, nurture gardens, bake delicious treats, and shuffle decks of cards during lively family game nights.
Carolyn’s heart overflowed with love for her family, friends, and her beloved Boston Terriers. She reveled in simple pleasures: fishing by the riverbanks, camping under star-studded skies, and losing herself in the pages of a good book. Her green thumb turned her garden into a riot of colors, and her kitchen was a haven of warmth and delicious aromas.
But it was her role as a grandmother that truly lit up her life. Miranda (Eric), Melissa, and Robert (Riley) were the loves of her life. And when great-grandchildren Anthony, Eric Jr., Preston, Hailee, Jameson, and Ezra arrived, Carolyn’s joy knew no bounds. She cherished each moment spent with them, passing down stories, wisdom, and love.
Carolyn’s legacy is one of selflessness. She gave tirelessly—to her family, her community, and anyone who needed a helping hand. Her hard work and nurturing spirit touched countless lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, two brothers, and a sister.
A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 9168 Silver Falls Highway SE, Aumsville, OR, 97325, at 10:30 AM. Following the service, a reception will take place at Aumsville City Hall, located at 555 Main St, Aumsville, OR, 97325. The reception will be a potluck, so please bring a side dish to share—a fitting tribute to a woman who always knew how to nourish both body and soul.
Carolyn Sue Greiner’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace.
