Carol Ann Hensley

February 26, 1957 — February 8, 2024

Carol Ann Hensley of Independence, Oregon passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, February 8th at the age of 66. She was a middle child, one of six children born to Bill & Kay Nelson on Feb. 26th, 1957, in Corvallis and spent most of her life in the Willamette Valley. Her mom fostered a love for agate/rock hunting which she passed on to her children and grandson. She had an Adventurous Spirit, loved the Outdoors, Beach, Mountains, the Woods, she was always searching for a Burl, buck nut, walking stick, anything unique. She had a keen eye, she was always looking for treasures, what we see as garbage, she made some kind of art out of it. We called her a Garbolisist! She was a very creative "Left brained" person (her words) Her greatest accomplishments in life were her Children, Christina (Stephens) Hendricks (48), and Casey Castle (36)


Life was not easy for her at times, but she endured, she had many forms of work throughout her life, berries & veggie picking, cannery, tree planter, clerk, custodian, forklift driver for flowerpots and at a lumber Mill, a Logger, Bookkeeper, Prep Cook, Caregiver. She leaves behind her life partner James Thomas of Independence & her Baby Boy Mauqua Kitty. Her Children Christina (Randy) Hendricks Sublimity, Casey (Brittney) Castle Sweet home. Grandson Brennen Castle of Sweet home. She is also survived by her Brother Bill Nelson, Sister Patty (Terry) Lamp Jefferson, Brother Steve (Cathey) Nelson Bend and numerous other treasured families & friends.

She is proceeded in death by her Sissy Delores Nelson, Grandmother Mary Nelson, Mother Kay Nelson, Daddy Bill Nelson Sr, Grandmother Ora Madison, Grandfather's Homer Nelson & Eldon Madison, Brother James Nelson, as well as many other dear family Members and friends.

We will have a Celebration of Life at a later date T.B.D.
