Boe Austin Evans

Boe Austin Evans, born on August 31, 1967, in Arlington, Virginia, passed away on September 10, 2023, in Aumsville, Oregon. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his spirited personality, handy skills, and infectious humor.


Boe was the cherished son of Leroy and Judith Evans. He was the loving husband of Shannon Dee Evans and the proud father of Kirk Michael Lyon-Sellers, Kerry (Grosche-Evans) Thompson, Arther Thompson, and Boe Austin Evans II. He was also the doting grandfather to Lenore Thompson-McGhee. He is survived by his siblings, Teresa Higby and Angel Christman. Boe was preceded in death by Tharley Holloway, Carter Evans, Kimi Dvorak, and Rose Lightner-Evans.


Boe was raised in Mill City Oregon for 18 years. He and his mother Judy moved to multiple states for several years. Once he married the love of his life, Shannon, they settled down in Aumsville where he spent the last 21 years. In 2018, he and Shannon bought a home in Detroit and spent as much time as possible enjoying that home.


Boe attended of Santiam High School and then finished his education at Clatsop Community College, graduating in 1988. He also attended the Tongue Point Job Corps, in Astoria Oregon where he earned his seamanship license. Boe had a distinguished career as a Merchant Marine, spending over two decades on various ships and tugboats. In the last 14 months of his life, he served as a pilot car driver for Modern Biling Systems.


Boe was a man of many interests. He had a deep love for the sea, which was reflected in his passion for boating and fishing. He cherished time spent with family and was always the life of the party. Boe was known for his love of beer, swimming, driving the side by side, and attending movies and concerts. He had a soft spot for snacks and music, and was a dedicated Subaru enthusiast.


Boe Austin Evans will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his hearty laughter, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
