Life Story for William “Bill” E. O’Connor December 7, 1946 March 23, 2018 William E. O’Connor was born on December 7, 1946 in Salem, Oregon to Richard F. and Lela Mae (Bell) O’Connor. He joined the Marine Corps at 19 years of age in 1966 and served in Vietnam and retired in 1991. He worked at Norpac, Judson’s Plumbing and for a brief time worked for the county. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the city of Stayton. On August 29, 1992 he married Edolina Ruiz at Immaculate Conception Parish in Stayton, Oregon. Bill enjoyed collecting and shopping for antiques, collecting miscellaneous items and enjoyed tinkering with electronics. Bill passed away on March 23, 2018 in Salem, Oregon. Bill is survived by his wife Edolina; his children Cory (Adrianne), Billy (Walker) and Tamera; siblings, Jim O’Connor, Gary (Denise) Mattson and Mary-Kay (Ken) Wisner; grandchildren, Abbigail, Hudson and Oliver; nephews Chris and Andy O’Connor; nieces, Dr. Kelsie Hendrickson and Faith Mattson; and numerous cousins around the U.S. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Weddle Funeral Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00pm at Immaculate Conception Parish in Stayton, Oregon. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stayton, Oregon. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, CNA’s and Staff at Salem Health in addition to John Paul and Timothy Sheldon who provided wood to keep Bill warm. The family would also like to thank St. Joseph Parish for providing communion while he was at the hospital in addition to Mike Jaeger and John Hodsdon who visited Bill and brought him communion.
