Beverly Louise Culver was born November 22, 1932, in Portland, Oregon, to Arthur and Louise Taylor. She grew up in the Portland area and graduated from Franklin High School. Beverly moved to Ellensburg, Washington, where she attended Central Washington College of Education from 1952 to 1955, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. When she left the university in, she took a job with the phone company in Corvallis, Oregon. One day she had a wasp in her apartment and ran next door to get her neighbor, Albert Culver, to help her. The couple hit it off and were married a short time later, on December 6, 1958. Al always teased Beverly that it must have taken her days to track down and capture a wasp to put in her apartment just so she could have him rescue her.Al and Beverly had four children and Beverly stayed home to take care of them and the home. The family lived in Corvallis until 1975 when they moved to Walla Walla for a couple of years. Jobs were not great in Walla Walla so they headed back to Oregon, living for a couple years in Jefferson before finally settling permanently in the Albany area.Beverly took good care of the home and children while Al worked. Her family was her whole world and she loved caring for them. Whenever the kids or grandkids had activities, Beverly was there helping any way she could even if that meant just being there to cheer them on. She loved the Lord and was involved in church activities at Dever Conner for 19 years and most recently she and Al had attended South Albany Community Church for the last 20 years.Years ago, Beverly and some of the ladies in the family and some friends took a girls’ trip to Hawaii and had a marvelous time. She would travel to Hawaii seven more times, but after that girls’ trip, the men decided they would tag along on all further adventures. Wonderful memories were made on these family trips together.Al and Beverly enjoyed almost 61 years of marriage before her passing on October 18, 2019, in Scio, Orgon. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Albert; four children Michael Culver, Karen Nelson, Debra (Bart) Midkiff, and Susan (Gary) Tempel; siblings Velma Oberle and Dale (Pat) Taylor; grandchildren Kristin, Tyler, Tara, Sadie, Abby, and Jordan; and five great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at their church, details pending.
