Barbara Lee Rogers (Bobbie Lee) went home to Jesus on April 26, 2024, at age 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Lyle Hale Rogers Sr., who passed 8 months earlier.
Barbara was born to Clyde and Beulah Webber on July 9, 1931, in Buffalo, Wyoming. She was the third of four sisters. She grew up in several small towns in Oregon as her father worked in a variety of timber industry jobs. The family ended up in Oakridge, Oregon, where she ultimately met Lyle at a dance when she was 16 years old.
Lyle and Barbara were married on June 4, 1948, in Oakridge, Oregon. Immediately after a three-day honeymoon, she joined Lyle to live in a tent located 35 miles up a dirt road where the child bride assumed the duties of camp cook for her father-in-law’s logging crew. A few years later they began having their family which included five children. Lyle and Barbara shared their love of the outdoors and their love for being faithful followers of Jesus. They modeled and taught the word of God and Christian ways of living. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 75 years.
Barbara was a dedicated wife and mother who filled her home with love and taught her children to love God. In addition to her own children, Barbara made room in her home for other children who needed a stable place to live. Her house may not have been spotless, but it was always filled with food, laughter, warmth, and kindness. It was also always filled with animals of all varieties including bobcats, squirrels, donkeys, rabbits, Guinee pigs, cats, and dogs.
Barbara, who always enjoyed sports, discovered a love for tennis after her children were grown. This new hobby introduced her and Lyle to a group of individuals who became life-long friends and traveling companions. Lyle and Barbara enjoyed traveling to many destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and several U.S. destinations.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Christine Pennick (husband Bill); Martha Duckworth (husband Ken); Ellen Foley (husband Tim); and Karen Clark (husband Alfred); sons Lyle Rogers Jr. (wife Denise); and Larry Rogers (wife Kerry); and Ben Grant (wife Rhonda); 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild.
Barbara was loved dearly by many and will be greatly missed. Although we mourn her death on this earth, we take comfort that we will all be reunited with her again in heaven.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Serenity Hospice and Regency Woodlands for their compassionate care during Barbara's final days.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants." Psalm 116:15
