Arthur W. Breckel

Mehama, Oregon A memorial service with military honors for Arthur Breckel will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 20th at Stayton Christian Church, 189 Washington St. in Stayton.  A celebration of life will occur directly after the memorial. Arthur was born Dec. 22, 1919 in Sheridan County (Anamoose), North Dakota to Otto Breckel and Paulina Schlag Breckel.  On Sept. 13, 1947 he married Joyce Amelia Knudtson.  His wife preceded him in death and survivors include a son, Rick Breckel of Mehama, OR and a daughter, Suzette Breckel of Renton, WA ; brothers, Elmer Breckel of Lebanon, Hilbert Breckel of Oakridge, Reuben Breckel of Yuma, AZ; sister, LaVina Breckel Hudson of Milton, FL; granddaughter, Christina Bridge of Sublimity; great grandchildren, James & Hope Bridge of Sublimity.  Arthur was a Army veteran of WWII, had worked for Great Northern Railroad in N.D. and upon moving to Oregon, in 1953, began a career with the US Army  Corps of Engineers. Remembrances may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 30406, Portland, OR 97294-3406. These funds will be used to enhance waterfowl and upland game bird habitat at Summer Lake wildlife area. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
