ARTHUR BARRETT March 10, 1922 – June 3, 2011 LAVONA W. BARRETT March 4, 1923 – June 18, 2011 Aumsville, Oregon Residents Arthur was born in New Hampshire and Lavona born in Pennsylvania, they met in New York while Lavona was attending nursing school. They were married on Jan. 1, 1945 in Carbondale, PA. They made their home in Boston, Massachusetts where Lavona had worked as a registered nurse in nursing homes and Arthur worked as an engineer for the government defense projects for radar systems. They attended bible college in Providence, Rhode Island. Arthur received his teaching credentials at Northeastern and was instructing electrical engineering at Wentworth. In 1969 they moved to Silverton where Arthur worked teaching at Chemeketa and Lavona worked at nursing homes in Silverton. They retired and in 1993 they served as short term missionaries in Papua, New Guinea where they Arthur taught and Lavona served as a nurse. In 1194 they moved to Sublimity and then to Aumsville. They both enjoyed reading and bible study. They are survived by sons, Gordon (Nancy) Barrett of Anderson, IN, David (Debra) Barrett of Plainview, TX; daughter, Ann (Tom)Rominski of Portland; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Celebration of life service will be held Wed. June 22nd at 2:00 pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel in Stayton. Interment at Miller Cemetery, Silverton, OR. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc., Hospice of Choice or Library of Choice. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
