Angelita Pena

Angelita Leos Pena (76) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 10th ,2024. Angelita was born May 31st, 1947, in McAllen Texas to Beatrice Lopez and Rumaldo Leos. She was the 5th born out of 13 children. Angelita and her 12 siblings, (Elva, Juan, Rumaldo Jr, Raul, Julio, Demencio, Diana, Carlos, Ruben, Esteban, Ramiro and David) lived in Texas until 1963 when their family moved to Independence, Oregon where she met the love of her life, Ruben Pena. She and Ruben eloped in the Spring of 1965, after Ruben returned from his military service and had their official wedding on August 27th, 1965. To say that they were soulmates is an understatement. The bond and love that they shared was unbreakable. They loved and adored each other until each of their last breaths.

Angelita and Ruben were blessed with 4 beautiful children, Elisa Esther Pena, Ruben Pena Jr married to Debbie Pena, Ramon Pena married to Julie Pena and Elizabeth Esther Pena-Harris married to Matthew Harris. 11 grandchildren, Mariah Pena-Mesdag married to Zach Mesdag, DeMario Harris engaged to Kanilehua Moepono-Techur, Mikayla Harris, Ramon Jr, Kayla, Ruth, Daniel, Conner, Alex, Julian and Brianna Pena. As well as 13 Great-Grandchildren, Leonia Pena- Harris, Nessa-James Harris, Matthew Mesdag, River Harris, Zachary Mesdag Jr, Mateo Harris, Lincoln, Noah, August, Jamie, Kayce, McKenna and Maverick Pena. Angelita is preceded in life by Beatrice and Rumaldo Leos, Ruben Pena Sr, Ruben Pena Jr, Elisa Pena, Elva Leos, Julio Leos, Demencio Leos, Carlos Leos, Ruben Leos, Ramiro Leos and David Leos.

Angelita was incredibly talented in so many ways. Her cooking skills were admired by all who had the honor to taste it. She loved making jewelry and many other crafts. Above all else, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Being a wife, mother and grandmother was her favorite thing to do and she did it very well. Nothing put a smile on her face more than seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and memories will live on through her loved ones. She will be greatly missed, and Heaven is incredibly lucky to have her.
