Alma Joyce Keeton

February 11, 1927 – June 3, 2012 Alma Keeton passed away into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on June 3rd. Alma was born in Wilder, Kansas, one of 13 children born to Harry and Stella Smith. She spent her childhood in Bonner Springs, Kansas. In 1948 she married Joy Lee Keeton .   In 1954 they moved their family to Oregon, settling near Lyons, where Joy took a job with Simpson Lumber Company. In 1963 they relocated to Stayton, where they both became employed by Stayton Canning Company. After Alma’s retirement in 1989, they remained in Stayton.   Alma is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joy; sons Kenneth (Patty) of Stayton; Russell (Jill) of Turner; David (Toni) of Keizer and Dan of Oakland, CA; daughters Joyce Nancarrow (Jim) of Portland and Cathy Valencourt (Gene) of Keizer. She is also survived by her brothers Frank Smith of Overland Park, KS and George Smith of Joplin, MO; sisters Eleanor Quinlan of Edwardsville, KS and Jesse Krauss of Halstead, KS; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.   A private family service will be held Wednesday, June 6, with a celebration of life to be held at a date yet to be determined.   Alma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
