Alma “Jean” Robertson Davidson

Alma “Jean” Robertson Davidson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 13, 2025, in Keizer, Oregon, just shy of her 100th birthday. She was born on March 25, 1925, in Grimes, Iowa, to William and Norma Robertson. As the youngest of five children, Jean was named “Alma” by her siblings, who insisted she be named after their beloved schoolteacher.

Jean grew up on the family farm with her siblings Benjamin (deceased), Burton (deceased), Lucille (deceased), and Norma “Dot” (deceased). In her teenage years, the family relocated to Sweet Home, Oregon, where she met the love of her life, Alvin H. Davidson. The couple married on April 26, 1941, in Vancouver, WA. Together, they had three sons: William Rowan (Mary Ella, deceased), Dennis Dean (deceased) (Mary Elizabeth), and Roger Lee (Jeanie).

Jean and Alvin lived in Sweet Home for 19 years before relocating to Mill City in 1961. Jean was a devoted housewife and also worked at Muir’s Bakery. Alvin owned and operated Lakeline Logging, in Lyons, OR.

Jean had a deep passion for her family and enjoyed watching her sons play sports, as well as cheering on her grandchildren. She had a fondness for simple pleasures like playing card games, putting together puzzles, watching the TV show COPS, and spending time with her friends. One summer, she and her friends spent their days painting the exteriors of each other’s homes.

As “Grams,” Jean took great joy in her 8 grandchildren: Mary L. Davidson, Steven Davidson, Michael Davidson, Madeleine Downing, Matthew Davidson, Britni Davidson, Andy Davidson (deceased), and Darcy Houston. She was also a proud great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her warm sense of humor, easy-going personality, and deep love for her family. Her family fondly recalls her love for hot dogs, Twinkies, chicken, chocolate cake, and potato chips.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Fairview Cemetery, in Gates, OR, at noon on Saturday, April 26, 2025, on what would have been her and Alvin’s 84th wedding anniversary. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mill City Fire Department or Fairview Cemetery.

Jean’s love, laughter, and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
