Living in the country was perfect for our Mother, where they enjoyed riding their horses, growing vegetables and tending flower gardens. Alice was an avid gardener exchanging plant starts and Dahlia bulbs with friends and neighbors.
Alice was well known for tending her foxes in Fox Valley as well as her wild turkeys who would follow her around the yard and to her paper box. She was a devoted animal lover and rescued more cats and dogs that can be counted.
Alice worked in the Stayton Cannery for many years retiring in 1988 to spend time with her husband Clive. After Clive’s passing she dedicated her time to the community, volunteering at the Mill City Library, Gleaners and taking her “older” friends shopping every week. The Mill City Garden Club was one of Alice’s passions serving many positions and making like minded gardening friends.
Alice was an active member of the Mill City Christian Church for many years where she enjoyed her Lunch Bunch Bible Study group and made many lifelong friends. Alice’s strong faith in God sustained her throughout life and her failing health.
The family wants to send much love and heart felt thanks to the Mill City Christian Church for all the support and care they have given our Mother through out the years. Of course there are those special friends….and you know who you are, that will always be in our hearts. Alice loved you all very much.
We will miss her beautiful smile and quiet strength and she will live in our hearts forever.
