AILEEN  E.  “SUZY”  DAVIS Jan. 25, 1922 – April 9, 2011 HAPPY VALLEY – Aileen “Suzy” Davis was born in Yakima, WA on the 25th day of January, 1922.  She passed away peacefully in Portland on Saturday, the 9th  of April with her family by her side.  She was 89. She was the daughter of Ralph Lavern and Stella Jane Ellis.  She graduated from Centralia High School in 1940, having played the cello in the Olympia High School Orchestra and was a drum majorette in the band.  She was associated with the KELA radio program at Centralia High School, and was active in regional theater.  She married to her high school sweetheart James J. Davis on Aug. 31, 1942 and they made their home in Portland where they raised their three sons.  She graduated with honors at Portland State in 1976 with a bachelor degree in education.  She earned her master degree in 1978 and was past president of Phi Lambda Theta.  She had worked for the Humboldt School District #1 from 1965-1976, then as an elementary school teacher for Gresham School District #4 for 18 years before retiring in 1994.  She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Suzy was a past Matron and life member of the Mt. Hood Temple#144 Order of Eastern Star, twice past Royal Matron of Christina Court#8  Friendship Temple, past Matron of Amaranth Friendship Temple #115 Order of Eastern Star, life member of White Shrine, past Queen of Nydia Temple #4 Daughters of the Nile.  Member of O.E.A., past  Grand Deputy of State of Oregon for Rainbow girls and Charter Mother adviser of Mt. Hood Rainbow, past president of P.T.A.  She was an avid Trail Blazer fan and follower of her son Brian’s music group “Pink Martini”.  She enjoyed gardening, bowling, ballroom dancing, spending time with her family and See’s candy. James “Jim” preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1981 and she moved to Happy Valley in 1992.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glen and Francis Orr and Ralph Donald Ellis. She is survived by her sons, Gary of Molalla, Brian Lavern (Renata Secco) of Portland, Craig (Terrie) of Molalla; nieces and nephews including Alan (Lauri) Orr of Portland; grandsons, James (Rikki) Davis of Montana, Julian (Ruby) Camarillo-Davis of Portland, Steven (Chelsey) Davis of Molalla; great grandchildren, Julian Uko Anyang Camarillo Davis, Sayer Davis, Miyah and Maddi Davis, Wyatt and Peyten Mae Davis. Visitation will be Thursday, April 14th from 9 am – 5 pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton,Oregon. Visitation Friday, Apr. 15th from 9 am – Noon  followed by Funeral Service at 1:00 at Rose City Funeral Chapel, with graveside service following at Rose City Cemetery, Portland. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, Habitat for Humanity, OPB or Special Olympics. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
