Phyllis Jean Tramble was born on October 19, 1956 in Lancaster, California to Ernie Lee Tramble and Rose Lee Williams. Phyllis was blessed to be part of a large family, and even more blessed when she began a family of her own. At one point in her life Phyllis wanted to be a registered nurse, but God knew that the most important role she would ever have was that of a mother to ten children. She decided to discontinue to college to focus on her family. In addition to taking care of her own children, she welcomed many children into her home that she would care for and nurture. If you were at Phyllis’ house you would never go hungry. She always had something ready to eat. She made the best dressing at Thanksgiving, homemade gumbo and her sweet potato pie was like no other. Even simple things she made like beans and cornbread would be the best you ever had.Phyllis had a tremendous faith in God and shared his glory with her children. She was a “walking Bible” who could relay scripture. Throughout her illness Phyllis knew that God would carry her through, she was always seeking the Lord, whatever direction he would take her.Phyllis met her husband, Cotrell 20 years before they got married through mutual friends. They always stayed on each other’s minds and reconnected later on in life. They finally married on November 15, 1996. Phyllis and Cotrell bonded over their love of music. Cotrell being a professional musician would play one of his instruments and Phyllis would join him with her beautiful voice. These musical talents were passed onto their children as well. In 2015 Phyllis and Cotrell decided to move to Salem, Oregon to be closer to family. She loved the rain and colder weather of Oregon and knew this was her final home. Phyllis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren because they always kept her busy with birthday parties and other family events. Her life was so incredibly full. It was not uncommon for her to crack jokes, laugh and have fun.Phyllis was a beautiful soul that went home on May 30, 2019 at age 62 in Salem, Oregon. She is survived by her husband, Cotrell Billingsly; children, Deandre Goree, Jonia Williams, Phillip Williams, Keanna Williams, Inisha Williams, Dranelle Mock, Curtina Armstrong, Tawny Armstrong, Stefan Perry and Shaniah Perry in addition to a host of siblings, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
