Philip S. Damon

Philip S. Damon was born on October 10, 1941 in Dallas, Oregon to Leslie and Ina Damon. At age 12 his family moved to California where he graduated from Vista High School and immediately pursued his interest as a mechanic. In 1965 he married Susie Ragsdale and they were married for 52 years. Throughout Phil’s entire life he was mechanically inclined and worked on his own cars or would repair his family members. In addition to his work as a mechanic, Phil also worked at gas stations and drove truck. His true passion was always his cars and his ’67 Chevelle was his “baby” in addition to his Model A Ford. Phil was a member of the Model A Ford Club of America Willamette Valley Chapter and attended meetings regularly. In 2004 Phil and Susie moved to Lyons to enjoy retired life. Phil was strong in his Christian faith and enjoyed listening to hymns. He was also a loving grandparent and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Susie Damon; children, Philip (C.J.) Damon II, Michael (Krissy) Damon, and Tamara (Del) Goertzen; siblings, Priscilla (Richard) Olson, Linda Foster and Francis (Rosemary) Damon; 8 grandchildren, Brittany, Kimberly, Luke, Alyssa, Ella, Rebecca, Camille and Nolan; in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A service will be held for Phil on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 11am in Weddle Funeral Service with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Gates, OR to follow. Anyone who was part of Phil’s car club or has a vintage car is encouraged to drive that to the service and lead the hearse to the cemetery in honor of Phil’s passion for his cars.
