Lynna Dee Hickerson was born November 13, 1943, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Dewey and Mescal (Guinn) Womack. The family moved to Inglewood California when she was a child. While attending church as a young teen, Lynna met Don Hickerson and there was an instant connection. The childhood sweethearts were married in Redondo Beach, California. Lynna loved being a homemaker and raising of the couple’s three children. The family was very close. Lynna was a no-nonsense person but very sweet. She was strong-willed and her mind, once set, moved towards the goal. Because of this, there was nothing she could not accomplish. When the children left home, Lynna went back to school, taking classes at Multnomah College, PCC and WSU Vancouver campus. She worked as a secretary at PCC, Western Seminary, and Seattle Pacific University. She then moved on to the Washington State Department of Corrections beginning as a clerk typist. Lynna transferred to the State Attorney General’s office as a legal secretary and soon became the personal secretary of a division head within the Attorney General’s office, eventually she became the office manager. Don built a home in Olympia and they had a beautiful lakeside property. Lynna enjoyed gardening and became interested in naturalistic landscaping and created a beautiful yard. When the couple settled in Stayton after retiring, they again built a home with naturalistic landscaping. Don and Lynna both loved the Lord and were always involved in the churches they attended wherever they made their home. Most recently their home church has been Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Salem. Lynna read her bible often and had a stand in the kitchen where for years she put the days’ Proverbs chapter on it to read. On November 18, 2019, Don read her the chapter for the day, and fittingly, verse 22 read “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord”. This brought a smile. Later that day, with Don by her side, holding her hand, Lynna left this earthly body and entered into the presence of her Savior, now absent from the body and present with the Lord. Lynna was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Mickey Womack. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don Hickerson; children Jeremy (spouse June) Hickerson of Salem, Megan Frisco (spouse Lt. Col Glen Frisco, USAF Ret.) of Maryville, TN, and Mike (spouse Christy) Hickerson of Buckley, WA; grandchildren Evan, Brian, Alan Shannon and Nathan Frisco, Rosemary and Madeline Hickerson, Amber, Brandon and Melissa Hickerson ; and sister Sherry (spouse Paul) Lien of Whidby Island, WA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 3:00 PM at Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Salem, Oregon.
