Joseph James Stupfel

Joseph James Stupfel passed away peacefully on November 16, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1957 in Renton, WA with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (MD). He spent most of his childhood years growing up in Keizer, Oregon with his large family and spent his last 33 years living in Portland at Marquis Mount Tabor care facility. Joe graduated from McNary High School in 1976 and took several courses at Chemeketa Community College studying journalism. He had been working on completing a book of his life with MD and the family hopes to publish it in the near future. Joe enjoyed watching all sports but his favorite teams to follow were the Portland Trail Blazers and Oregon Ducks. Joe is proceded in death by his father, William Joseph Stupfel, and his nephew, Connor Wade Gage. He is survived by his mother, Jeanette Stupfel, and his seven siblings; Marianne (Adrian) Wallace, Patricia (Laura McInnis) Stupfel, Leslie (Joe) Usselman, Kay (Darrin) Gage, Michael (Sabrina) Stupfel, Thomas Stupfel, Donald (Sandi) Stupfel, 10 nieces and nephews and several extended family. Private services were held. Joe thanks all those who helped him live his happy life. He especially thanks the staff at Marquis Mount Tabor, the Kaiser Permanente doctors, hospice staff and nurses, the parishioners of Ascension Catholic Church and family and friends who helped him stay comfortable and feel well loved.
