Jerold Clifford Mcguffin

Jerold Clifford McGuffin October 12, 1929 September 24, 2017 Lebanon, Oregon Jerold Clifford McGuffin was born on October 12, 1929 in Willamina, Oregon, the second son of John and Iva McGuffin. He lived there in a community surrounded by relatives until around the age of ten. During that time, he had a paper route several miles long across gravel roads, quite an adventure for such a young guy. Somewhere in this time, the family moved to the farm at North Santiam. Jerold’s work ethic continued to mature, as he began cleaning the school he attended when he was twelve years old. As he got a little older, he started working for a nearby farmer, eventually leasing land from him and farming for himself, raising pole beans. It was there that he met Colleen Hopson, and they soon married, producing five wonderful children. Eventually, Jerold switched from farming to working in mills, first in plywood then in sawmills. He owned a gas station for a while, but was too soft-hearted to make money at it, so Colleen convinced him to give that up. In the late seventies, they purchased a farm at Scio. His love of the land was finally satisfied. But for those who assisted him during haying time… wow! Jerold always had (very) used equipment, so if the baler wasn’t breaking down or throwing oil, it was the rake or the tractor! (But mostly it was the baler.) In later years Jerold accepted the Lord as his Savior. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the evening of September 24th, 2017. Jerold is survived by five children, (in order of appearance, not importance), Lynnette Taylor of Portland, Clifford McGuffin and wife Susan of Silverton, Darcy McGuffin of Alsea, Shannon Martin of Lacomb, and Michael McGuffin of Mill City; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen. Memorial services for Jerold Clifford McGuffin have been scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Stayton Christian Church.  Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
