Galen Isaiah Rutter

Galen Isaiah Rutter, 88, passed away on October 25, 2019 in Albany, Oregon. One of ten children, he was born on February 24, 1931 to Emmett and Cora (Miles) Rutter in Novelty, Missouri. Galen attended school in a one room schoolhouse in Leonard. He had many careers over the course of his lifetime, but his passion was farming. Over the course of his career he farmed cattle, rabbits and chickens. He also worked as a uranium miner and a logger. Galen married Doris L. Hershburger on July 16, 1950 in Kalona, Iowa. They were married until his passing. They both were spontaneous and enjoyed the nomadic life. They lived in Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico and Oregon. Galen also enjoyed fishing, hunting and his involvement at his church. Galen was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings and his son, Benny. He is survived by his wife, Doris Rutter; children, David, John, Paul, Barb, Beverly, Allen, Doris Ann “Dan” and Francesca “Frankie”; 20 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marge Miller. He will be missed.
